Vice President Joe Biden announced Wednesday that he would not be seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States ending months of speculation about whether the elder statesman would throw his hat into the ring.
Earlier reports this week by members of Biden's staff had suggested that the Vice President was coordinating with campaign organizers about a possible October launch date. However, in an emotional show, Biden with his wife by his side, laid these rumors to rest suggesting that although he is the rightful heir to Obama's legacy the time for a successful campaign launch "has closed."
For months Democrats and political pundits alike have speculated that the Vice President would be the only logical choice capable of defeating the GOP were Clinton to falter. However, after a strong showing at the first Democratic debate, Clinton has already shown that this isn't 2008 again. Whether or not she can continue to hold off rising challenger Sen. Bernie Sanders is yet to be seen.
